I was wondering how well my one duckling will get along in my flock of Chickens?! Does it usually go ok? Or would it be a bad ideas. I’m not sure what kind of duck it is either nor whether it’s male or female. It’s a black duckling. And it’s in the brooder box with 2 silkies and two Speckled Type Chicks. Seems to be doin fine with them so far.

Raised with chicks, the duck will be part of the flock. Troubles will occur if it proves to be a drake because it will start mating the hens. This can cause problems/deaths because a drake has a penis, but roosters do not.
Do you know if there’s any way to tell sex?

Ducklings grow faster than chicks and require different set ups. I had a single duckling with chicks and he broke the Chicks neck noodling and being rough. Definitely not a situation I'd try again. Mine was a Call Duckling with Bantam chicks.
