I have unfortunatly lost my female goose today after a very swift illness, less than 24 hours after I noticed she was acting a bit strange. I don't know what was wrong with her as she had died before the vet could get out to me. I only had two geese so now I have a lone male.
This female was actually only 18 months old and I had her to replace a previous female who also died. So now I am back to square one. I am wondering now if I should just leave him on his own with the ducks and chickens or if I should look for another female. He was totally heartbroken last time which is why I rescued another female for him but he is a bit older now and I don't want to continue keep replacing the geese. Will he be ok or do I need another female or should I look to re home him?

If he is a really old gander you may just want to leave him to himself, with the other birds, and let him live out his life without any further trauma. However, if he is still relatively young you really should try to get him a companion goose or rehome him to a place that has other geese. Geese are very flock oriented and need the company of another goose or more. Is he manifesting any grief over the loss of this female? Does he get along with the chickens and ducks you already have? These are also part of what you need to consider in making your decision.

I am sorry your female died and empathise with you and your gander over that loss.
