Haha, watermelon isn't their thing. If you can, find while raw unsalted peanuts, they love them! she may land on you once she has tried them. break a few in half to encourage her to try them at first. Once she has tried them, she will LOVE them!

You are right about the peanuts! She loves them.

On another note...I feel so bad for her. She gets up on the roof everyday and looks at the sky as if she is waiting for a flock to go with. She won’t let me touch her. I tried to lure her into a dog kennel with food .. she out smarted me. I love her already but she is breaking my heart she needs a buddy. There is not a pigeon within 10 miles. I don’t know what to do. She stays awake all night standing in her perch. my heart just can’t take it.

Can you reach where she sleeps? Their night vision is pretty poor so if you got a ladder or something and used a flashlight you could grab her.

That’s how I caught one of my birds when someone rescued him. He was perched quite high in the garage but when the lights were turned off he made no attempt to escape and I was able to reach him on a ladder.

I'm sorry. you can build a small loft and get it a few friends, or wait for it to naturally go to a flock. They are very rewarding to keep, and we will help you as much as we can. Here's some of my birds, just to encourage you to try the hobby out!

I don't know if I can relieve your worries but ...
Pigeons sleep standing up most of the time. I'm pretty sure she closes her eyes when you're not looking. The perch your hub made looks like a safe comfortable spot for her.

Thank you! It’s so strange... she isn’t trying to go anywhere. She stays on the porch and doesn’t seem to mind being alone. Is that odd??

Thank you! My husband already made a comment about the patio! Will she need anything other then the dove feed? I tried to offer her watermelon... she was not impressed.

The good part is - pigeon droppings are usually confined to a small area below the perch, making it possible to intercept them with a sheet of newspaper or something else.
RE fruit - haven't found any they like. Mine like romain lettuce. ATM she is free to select her own greens from what's available.

I’m glad you said this. I worry about her 24/7! I have become her protector. I was so excited that she came down and took a bath in the dish I gave her. She was less then 2 feet away. I live so far out that I’m concerned about the odds of another pigeon showing up I don’t want her lonely and I visit her at least 10 times a day. I don’t know how to find her a friend. Your birds are amazing by the way

Your pigeon is not lonely like you imagine. That is why she keeps staying in your porch roof. She feels safe there. Enjoys human company. I personally would not try capturing her, and just let her live where she is at currently.
Provide her feed, and water. BTW have water in a somewhat deeper dish, so able to immerse beak totally. Pigeons drink differently from chickens.
Place some newspapers under roost area on floor. Catch those gumdrops, and easy cleanup.
If time comes, when pigeon decides to say adios, DON'T BE SADDENED. Freedom is the most valuable thing to all creatures.
This does not translate to keeping pigeons in a loft as imprisonment. All those here that do keep them in lofts, usually loft fly them. The pigeons are grateful for that and keep returning home .
They enjoy living in the confines of a loft, and then getting free-flight time also.
Feeding those unsalted peanuts, you may train her to fly onto your hand. You may even try to make her an indoor pet eventually.

If pigeon math does infect you, and you decide to get a flock of pigeons to keep in a loft, there are plenty of peeps here to help you sort out most issues. First and most important , before making that LEAP. is to have housing (loft) up beforehand.
