Lone Turkey Poult (Pic)

That's what so great about this whole forum!!!

On a different note, with my chickens I always add some MannaPro chick grit to their feed once they get 2-3 weeks old to help with digestion. Once they are big enough to go outside I always have some free choice, but don't mix it into the feed...

Could/should I do the same with my poults?

Ok, you asked for it, so here are a few pics. I couldn't take too many because she was ready to fly out of her brooder. She is doing VERY well. She has 2 other poults her size and 3 other poults that are getting bigger so that they can join their group. I had to care for all 6 of them in my back room being as though the mama turkeys had no interest in them because the mama turkeys wanted to continue to sit on eggs.

I have been raising poult for years and I have never added any grit to their 30% game bird starter. They seem to do ok without it. Not saying that you can't. I just never tired it.

Yes, she is a BR. Post your pics on the Show off your 2011 Turkey Poults thread when you can.

thanks for all the help...

Right now, I'm planning on adding the chick grit starting next weekend... And then free choicing it in the tractor... That's how I do it with my chickens... Any reason's why not? Or is it just overkill? Any thought?

I am so happy for you!!!!

I have never added grit before at such a young age, so I can't give you a yes or no on it.

They are gr8!!!

In fact, I just added 5 midget whites to the mix...

I did, however, lose 5 meaties to a fox two nights ago... I added skirting around my tractor yesterday and that should fix it...

At least I think it should...

Thanks for checking up on them!
