A couple weeks ago it was really windy, and a dove nest fell out of one of our palm trees and got abandoned. We brought the two squabs inside and have been taking care of them, but yesterday the female died. What types of birds can they live with, and if they can only live with other doves, where can I get one?

I'd say do your best to raise the bird into adulthood and worry about getting it a companion if it pulls through. Best of luck!

Last summer my sister rescued 2 squabs from a Seattle construction site & then brought them to my house for a weekend stay. Needless to say she left them here at the end of the weekend. After they learned to fly one of the brothers left. The 2nd brother, the smaller one stayed. He loves to be talked to but not handled. He has been very lonely & spent a lot of time with my chickens. Then after being attacked this spring by a falcon he got brave. Every day he would fly out & then return around 2:30pm. We kept wondering what he was up to. Yesterday he brought home a friend for an hour or so. Today, she showed up again with him. I am glad to see that he has found a friend. We will see if she moves in......
