Lonely bird

hi, I have only one hen now, my other hen was killed two months ago. My chicken seems okay, I spend as must time with her as I can, but I’m considering getting another bird to keep her company.
An acquaintance has a single chicken to re-home. Her bird is older and my question is should I take on an older hen or get my girl some younger companions. Thanks

Can you separate your coop and run, so that you can let them see each other for a few weeks without being able to actually get to each other? That seems to work really good for introducing new chickens to each other
