lonely duck?

i somehow got suckered by the cuteness and got a duck along with a batch of chicks. he's some type of mix runner duck i think. He's great friends with the chickies, but i'm wondering if as they grow older will their differing behavior be a problem for the duck? I'm concerned about safety too. Should i get another duck to keep him company?

Yep, you should get another duck. A chicken, no matter how hard it tries, just isn't a duck. Ducks need duck buddies. As far as safety, I don't think they will turn on eachother especially since they are being raised together.

i guess i meant will he need a duck to help him be safe. i let my chickens range during the day and the duck just seems very lazy. i doubt hell be keeping up with them. they haven't been out yet, except for once and one of the chicks was eaten. so theyre not out anymore.
