Re-home her to a new flock or buy new birds. Chicks would be better than hens. Our 3 chickens were killed by a hawk the other day. Our one lady is left and obviously traumatized....she has not come out for two days. Can I get new chicks and start a new flock? Or older chickens? Any advice would be appreciated. She seems so lonely!
You'd have to raise them separately until they are about 4 weeks old. You can make it where she can them but not touch them until they can live together. Will they be safe with her...She is a little less than 2 years old.
So sorry for your loss, something similar happened to me. First time dogs killed 2 leaving one. I replaced them and it took about a week for surviving lady to stop attacking and accept them. About 2 weeks later same dogs came and killed newest girls leaving the original. I left her on her own for a few weeks and it definitely affected her.yesterday I introduced 3 new girlsOur 3 chickens were killed by a hawk the other day. You can see the difference in her already. Not so much bullying, I would definitely do it. Try keep them separated but in sight introduce them slowly and they'll be fine. Good luckYou'd have to raise them separately until they are about 4 weeks old. You can make it where she can them but not touch them until they can live together.
Terribly sorry for your loss.![]()
