Lonely Silkie

Unfortunately I just lost one of my chicks to the heat and an accident with the coop door today.

That leaves me with one almost eight week old silkie. I have some ladies for the young cockerel (he’s definitely a boy) coming in the beginning of September, but they won’t be ready to join him outside for awhile. He’s got a feather duster to keep him company but does anyone have advice for keeping him happy while he waits for his new buddies to join him. Any advice would be appreciated.

Check Craigslist for older pullets/hens if that’s possible? My area has quite a few people selling them for cheap if you’re willing to drive.

I contacted the person I got them from and I’m picking up two new buddies this weekend.
