Well, I was making a pan pizza and the shift leader guy (my partner for the day) told me to fix the pizza and then he walked away from me.
I got my pizza almost done, and he comes over and tells me it looks good, then right before we put it in the oven, he looks at the ticket and then looked at the pizza and was like, "Uh-oh. We made this pizza wrong."
And of course I was like, "Oops, what did I do wrong?"
Turns out that I put pepperoni on the pizza instead of sausage.
th.gif

The pepperoni at this place is ground up just like the sausage, but a reddish color. The sausage was covered up, so that's why I didn't know that I put the wrong thing on.
Looked just like sausage to me.
hu.gif

If the sausage had been uncovered, I would've noticed the difference, but I thought that I had access to all the ingredients.
He said it was no big deal, because I didn't know any better, and he should've been watching me.
It was pretty funny, because right when we noticed it was wrong, the manager lady (that hired me) walked by and was like, "How's everything going?"
Of course we just looked at each other and laughed. He responded with, " *tries not to laugh* It's going great! *chuckle* "
She never really looked at the pizza...

Oh, and I made this potato stroganoff stuff.
Never had it before. I guess it was alright. I like the regular kind better though, the kind with noodles.

I want some milk, but we're out.
sad.png

Oh, and I didn't have a headache when I woke up.
I got lucky and didn't have one all day, but now I'm starting to get one.

Where's Squishy?
I miss her.

Wow! Awesome story. It's good management didn't pick you up on it, so I guess it wasn't too bad after all!
big_smile.png

I like stroganoff. I like basically anything as long as there are no mushrooms in it
tongue.png

Sucks when you're out of milk, doesn't it
hugs.gif
Try not to let the headache get to ya too much. It's good it's been absent so far today.

Yeah, Squishy hasn't been on all day...

I'm here!
You guys missed me! Awww!

Busy busy today! First... had to sleep most of the day... Then.. I went out and checked on the chickies... Then I fed the dog/fish/hampster... Then I poured myself a Shirley Temple... Then I sat down on my bed and fell right to sleep again! I only woke up an hour ago
roll.png

I'm going to the doctor on Monday...

Dont worry about the silly pepperoni! That always happens.. and even when you have lots of experience, it still happens when your busy. It doesent count as a mistake if it doesent go in the oven! So
woot.gif

I'm coming back with a story that will make you feel not at all silly... It would be, how to thoroughly screw up in a pizza restaurant... But hold your horses! I'm going to be a while typing it with only one hand.. the other has to prop my sagging head up.. LOL!

I love you all too! I feel so special that I was missed

Story time!

Well... once upon a time...

Becky worked at a Dominos store where the owner had special deals going for the local public schools. They got enormous discounts (almost cost) for their pizzas... and once a week, and then on special occasions.. they would order.. ohhhh... 100 - 300 pizzas to doll out for lunch
th.gif

This time, I believe they were having a bake sale type thing.. only they were selling their $5.00 pizzas
roll.png
at $2.00 a slice
lol.png

The order was for 200 pizzas for lunch... at 11:45 am (the store opened at 11!)...

So.. I'd been doing these for a while... I was the assistant manager aka shift leader.. so I was in charge of seeing it all go off smoothly... I was working lunch that day... and the night before, as I was leaving for the evening... I happened to glance at the schedule to see which of the insiders I would have tomorrow for help... No One Was Scheduled!
So I march into the managers office.. and I say.. Hey Chris, I think you forgot about tomorrow on the schedule.. its school pie day. And he says... Nope! I didn't forget, but nobody wanted to work it, soooo.... You'll just have to manage!
ep.gif
I was like..... 200 pizzas, all by myself, in 45 minutes? With the sore just opening? It's not going to work!
So he says... Ohhh.. alright then.. How about Randy (the other assistant) and I whip up a bunch of spares for you.. well stay late tonight just to help you out.
( In a put-upon tone of course)
roll.png
So I said... well thats not *enough* help.. but I suppose I'll make do.. can I please come in early to get a head start? He says.. Ohh.. welll.. thats another hour on the clock.. I've gotta pay attention to these numbers.. blah blah
smack.gif

A spare is dough stretched and slapped out and left on a screen in the walk-in.. pretty much a frozen pizza minus sauce and toppings.

So I come in the next morning, at 10am... and the first things I have to do is get the stupid slow computer system up and running (everything, orders ect were computerized.. we had touch screens for order taking ...
tongue.gif
Danielle!) Get myself clocked in... theres 15 minutes wasted.
Go out in the rastaraunt.. make sure theres label paper.. all of this nonsense.. then finally I get to the foodstuffs. I have to prep sauce.. get it all out of a gazillion 1 quart pouches and into buckets for the day.. 4 buckets. hen I have to bring out all of the cheese, toppings, ect out of the walking and into the back of the coolers where we top pizzas... Oh goody.. as usual, someone ran out of ingredients last night.. so now I have to open up boxes, open up baggies, and prep at least for little cooler containers with those ingredients, extra ones go under in the cooler cabinets.

Then I get to drag out all my utensils.. drag out a gazillion trays of dough for the school pies... hunt down the missing sack of cornmeal so I can get my cornmeal out for the dough slapping. Whew! Everythings ready... opps. go turn the oven on.. that takes a while to get going.

Then the phone calls start... "Oh.. are you open yet" at 10:40... " Nope, sorry we dont open until 11:00!" I hang up. Gee how I wished I could just not answer the phone before we were opened.. but ohh no.. I got in trouble for that once.

So I rish off to the walk-in... and theres the 'Spares' the manager was talking about. 4 racks of them.. thats 60 spares to help with 200 pizzas
hu.gif

I get those out... and theres my sole driver for the morning come in.. Lisa. She was nice enough. So I have to go help her clock in.. and now its 10:50 am.

I had 55 minutes before 200 pizzas needed to be out the door
barnie.gif

The phone might not have been answered for a few minutes after 11:00
hide.gif

So I started slapping dough. I had gotten really quick at it in my time there.... but would it be fast enough?

I was flinging spare after spare off he rack and down the line where Lisa was saucing and cheesing them. I tried so hard not to let her do pepperonis.. she was good at everything else.. but she seemed to think the kids were going to mind if they missed a pepperoni or they didn't have even spaces
th.gif
She was always nice, like I said.. so I didn't explain.. Just said.. "It'll go faster if we do the cheese first" panting... so she was tosing pie after pie into the oven while I'm slapping the heck out of some dough.

15 minutes later... the pies start coming out of the oven... I still hadn't answered the phone yet, and believe me it was stressing me out. Better the customers think we just happened to not be open then get really mad when it took 2 1/2 hours for them to get a pie, right?
hide.gif

So Lisa jumps over to catch the oven.. and I'm saucing and cheesing and pepperoni-ing my bum off... get all the spares shoved in the oven finally... and go back to slapping. We had about 20 minutes left when Lisa cries out to me (she had been pretty quiet and me too) " Becky! I just cant take this anymore! These pizzas are all sticking and I cant get them off! Pies are coming out of the oven and I dont have anywhere to set them down!"

So I jump over there (it was behind me).. and she had gotten a lot of them cut and boxed... but apparently 15 mintues worth of pies had been sticking to the screens (Those stupid stupid spares the manager made
barnie.gif
) so theres 4 huge stacks of jumbled, half scraped, squished pies.. probably about 15 or 20 high... and the oven behind the table is spitting out pie after pie (I really load the oven up, its an art) onto the floor!

So I'm half crazed already.. and theres the sound of splat, splat, splat behind me... and this mess of gooey, globby, steaming pizza stacks in front of me.. with Lisa beside me with her hair sticking out.. and we were both just staring at it.

So... I say "Give me that" (the pizza paddle - oven grabber thing) and Lisa handed it to me and backed up. I scooped up part of a stack... and flung it on the floor. I kept going.... flinging the whole mess onto the floor behind me, near the side of the oven... Lisa was making some astonished/upset noises behind me. Then I handed the paddle back to Lisa and said "There.. now you have room!" and went back to slapping pizzas. We had still had 20 to go and now I had to make another 40 or so more.. to replace those on the floor.
Some of the pies now coming out of the oven were still those stinkin spares.. so when Lisa had the next stick she asked me "What do I do with this?" and I said "Just throw it on the pile" not stopping with the slapping.

Madly slapping and saucing and cheesing away I am... when the door bell rings and in walked the *Owner* of the stores!
th.gif

She, of course, had to shriek "What is THIS??" and I had to halt the works and explain everything to her. So she got in beside me and was topping the pizzas for me while I kept turning out the dough. In her designer suit and high heels... Constantly grumbling about managers that do stupid things and crazy girls who throw pizzas on the floor!
hide.gif

So Danielleeey! Have I made you feel better yet??
tongue2.gif

Oh my gosh! That is so funny!
I sure hope I never have to be in a situation like that!
Honestly, I'd probably throw a huge fit and lost my job..

It's good that the lady helped though.

Free as my hair!!
I think when I was in high school I didn't have much work my last year, but the year before that was crazy. I still have the planner that I had to buy because there were too many assignments/meetings to keep in my "head calendar." I like flipping through it once in a while and reminiscing.

Danielle, I am sure that you will get the hang of it. I don't have experience in the food industry but with anything, practice makes (almost) perfect!

Sweetie! You've only been at it a few days!
Trust me... it is completely normal to be really slow! Everybody, everybody is super slow at first!
You will get faster! I promise!

I kind of wish I was there
sad.png
We could work together and I could help you... and tell those meanbuttted girls to bug off!
smack.gif

I could also tell you about those stupid phone girls that I had to work with.... I dunno if I should dole out my stories slowly though
