I'm back! We didn't get a heater because they didn't have what I wanted.
We went to a different store. We'll go to Walmart sometime soon. Maybe tomorrow.


So I don't get my present?..

Work's going alright. I got a really crappy paycheck because we were slow last week.
Hopefully I get a good one next time. I can't afford to only have less than $30 after I pay my bills.
I do have to pay for gas to get to work you know.

Ah, and I'd sure like to have a picture of my fishie.

I heard about this a long time ago.. while it was still pretty expensive... but someone just posted elsewhere here on the forum.. and its gone way down... so I am going to do this next month for sure!

What exactly is it?
They can tell you what's wrong with you?

You send in your dna sample in the kit they give you... and they do an entire genetic profile!

They tell you your ancestry, as to what groups of people you originally came from.. europeans.. vikings ect ect... and then they have this whole database of people who've had it done before.. and they can give you your family tree as much as they have data about it!

All in the same sample... they provide the anaylisis of your genetic markers and your likeliness to have inherited diseases, ect... even the way your body will respond to certain medications... as well as what traits/mutations you'll pass on to your kids.. even your likeliness to pass on certain hair/eye colors supposedly!

It sounds really cool!

ETA... I saw it on a health program originally. A few years ago. As they said then... the more people they have participate.. the better map and the more info they have for everyone.

I'd sure love for them to tell me all that stuff just from me having to send them some of my spit.



I already know that my kids will have dark hair with brown eyes.
My blonde hair and blue eyes won't be passed on. They're not dominant.

So for $99 those people can tell me everything I'd (almost) possibly want to know about myself..
I might have to try it sometime.

Actually! I was just reading into all this.. genetics and hair/eye color... I was really fascinated with it as a ki when it came to horses/fish/ect... but I was prompted to read some things from the eye color thread here.. and including on that site.. it turns out... that eye color isent based on dominates and recessives as they once thought. They go a little more in depth about it on the site... but its entirely possibe for two brown eyed people to have a blue eyed child and so on. Same with haircolor. It was interesting.
Oh! And you already have blue eyes/blonde hair yourself! Its entirely likely you will have kids with those too!

Like my brother doesent have my moms and my brown eyes. He has the hazel eyes of my dad. Its really common to have a mixed bunch.

And we both have/had (before mine darkened, but thats my moms trait too) the blonde hair of my mom.. eve though my dad had dark hair.
