Long grower eggs Denizli on eBay

I had 3 Denizli roosters hatched from 2 different auctions of eggs. I have NEVER owned a more insanely vicious chicken in my 60+ years of keeping chickens. I had a line of game chickens many years ago, and the roosters were nuts, but only toward each other. The Denizli's were not even built for a scrap, and could be easily whipped by a standard dual purpose rooster. They were just vicious, and would kill any smaller or younger rooster they could get to, as well as attacking the hens they were with, without any provocation whatever. They were excellent crowers, with the best one I had hitting 12 seconds before he was a year old. I think nearly everyone in the country has gotten rid of them because of the insanity, except one fellow in Texas, which is where I got mine. The only time I ever enjoyed killing a bird.

ROFLMAO!!!! This is what happens when you post so late at night. Wow good to know about the Denizli, I'll mark them off the list of "wants"!!

There are US breeders with Tomaru also.

Do be sure you research who you're buying from for legitimate stock. There are a lot of folks who try to scam or do not know how to breed for the correct crow.

Actually the Tomaru's which are available in the US represent 2 different importations. The first was crossed with Minorca's for some inexplicable reason. The same line was later crossed with Sumatras which would have been a far better plan for the first cross. Sandhill's Tomarus show very strong influence of Sumatra. The second importation I believe was made in '02 but am not positive. Tomarus in the pure state are not winter hardy, so the second imports were crossed with Javas for no reason I can imagine. It would have been better to cross them with the remnants of the first importation, but it seems everyone wants to put their own signature on these kind of things. The Tomarus are available from a few sources, but they are not nearly as accomplished at crowing as the Denizlis, and many of them are really not very representative of the original breed. The ones I had from Sandhill were flighty as the dickens, though not to the same lunatic level as the Denizlis were. Sandhill calls them fairly calm, but the ones I had were definitely worse than leghorns. In hopes of getting a better crower without the insane aggression of the Denizli, I crossed the two breeds, raising about 85 of the crosses. The results were not spectacular. Ultimately divided the entire flock into two groups, one went in the freezer, and the other into the ground.
