I have a Wheaten Marans hen from 2015's hatch that went broody in August. She hatched chicks September 1st and hasn't resumed laying. Isn't 7 months a rather long hiatus? Anyone else had a similar experience? Did yours go back to normal laying? She laid normally before the chicks, she was a great mum but I'm wondering when she'll start again. She hasn't molted lately, she's otherwise healthy.

Some breeds aren't bred for production. Marans are one of them. Some take long breaks and lay few eggs. I would expect her to start laying again soon. Most will start back up from March to May.
