My x battery hen had a case of bumble foot in September, with a black scab on the bottom of her foot which was drained of puss but deeper infection was stuck inside. Since then the swelling has moved from the base of her foot (which is now healed) to her upper foot/ ankle.
She was limping very bad so we took her to the vets for some antibiotics which failed. Her limp has improved recently, however the swelling hasn’t.
I am currently soaking her foot in Epsom salt for half an hour each day and spraying colloidal silver spray on her foot followed by a bandage.
Has anyone got any other recommendations? If it has lasted this long does it mean it can’t be cured? And can a hen live with bumble foot for very long?
