My husband and I are nearing retirement from chapter 1 of our work life and just entered chapter 2 - small scale sustainable produce and poultry. So many people asked to buy our birds, we ended up with nine for ourselves, so grew 75 more over the summer. Our plans were to brood the layers for production next spring, but couldn't wait. We wanted about a dozen Wyandottes of laying age - didn't know how hard that would be in late Sept. Ended up with 2 Delaware, 5 Rhode Island Reds, and 4 bantam Wyandottes. The big girls gave us our first egg on 10/25
