I've been a lurker here for a couple of years. FINALLY got Hubby talked into letting me have some hens, (by forgoing my anniversary present for the next 4 years lol) we figure to get a tractor in August, I know it is late to start but hey, gotta strike when the iron is hot KWIM? Any way I am from Davie County born and bred. Advance, NC girl all my life. I now live on what used to be the family farm, with my imported husband (He was born in Rhodesia, what is now called Zimbabwe) and raising our Daughter to love country life! I popped back on BYC to research stuff and was surprised to find so many pages of posts from NC! Even saw one from my home town where I still live (Advance, NC) How cool is that! So anywhoo, I plan on about 8 chickens, I have found the guy to build my tractor, Kinda figured out where to get what I want. So now am playing around and figuring out names. Katieboo (my darling daughter) insists on a couple of EE's to be named Rainbow and Skittles, While I like big ol' fluffy hens with little old lady names like Henrietta, and pearl lol. We shall see! I look forward to getting to know all of you and will post pics of the coop and flock when they finally arrive!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining. :o) Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Our Easter Eggers are her favorites as she loves their colored eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your flock.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. I love the names your daughter came up with. Easter eggers produce pastel colored eggs, so the names fit. As for you mama, you get to names like Henrietta, or maybe Charlotte, Edith , Blanche , Rose, Dorothy - think you see where this is headed.

Have you connected yet with your state thread?

Yes I did connect on the NC thread! I started reading from the beginning then realize it was 3900 pages long
