Hi, I've been reading and learning from Backyard Chickens for a long time, first about chickens starting years ago, and more recently about quail. We've been raising chickens for close to 10 years, I guess, and have more recently added the quail. I registered a long time ago, but I hadn't ever posted, so I thought it was time I start!

A whole hearted welcome to BYC! I am so glad you joined the facebook for chickens! People won't judge you here for yoru insanity! We want photos and to learn more of your stories, successes or failures aside! Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

I will come clean, my biggest failure in chicken keeping was starting off with a straight run of chicks. The boys 100% turned into jerks towards both me and my gals and needed removal from my flock. I post my frequent failure often hoping noone will repeat my personal mistake.

A straight run is a great econimic idea if you and "your entire family" are ok with the freezer camp idea, but if a family member disagrees.... well you have fewer options.
