Hey folks,
Thought I'd answer the intro questions as I haven't been here for a while...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I first started tending to chickens about ten years ago or so with a landmate. By the following year I had my own mixed together with his flock. When I moved away I took mine and got more. Can't imagine living without chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
19, but we're looking to give away 3 roosters
(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orpingtons, Delawares, a Sea Bright, a little black and white one similar in size to the Sea Bright, a Bantam rooster, an Ameracauna, and a bunch of mixed breeds.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Don't remember.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm not sure about hobbies...I don't consider chickens a hobby. Eggs are actually an important part of my diet, and the chicken poop feeds my garden. Plus they eat the wormies under our fruit trees. I love my chickens, but have never considered them a hobby. I have lots of interests...but hobbies...I'll have to think about it.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live on an intentional community in Oregon (we call the region Cascadia). 60 acres, lots of organic fruit and nut trees, and large gardens. Gotta love it!
