Hatching
Hello. I've been in thy byc Bizz for about 22 years now. I am currently 25 years old. When I was younger, my dad and I set out to make a good name for game chickens. I was the Family breeder and feeder... Basically my dad handled them in the ring and I did all the rest... I know chicken fights are notoriously bad with gambling and animal cruelty, and even now, to me, game bird fighting is just their nature. Luckily, dad got out the the biz . I stayed in the breeding bit a while and eventually sold off most of my chickens.
Now, I've been working on a self sustainability project with my family on a total of 100 plus acres...
I got back into breeding but this time for meat and eggs and companions.
Currently, I have a 6 week old Sussex pullet with potentially a bit of something unknown in her...farmer gave me a 50-50 chance of pure bred.
I have a 1 week old barred rock. And I also have 14 silver laced wyandottes that I ordered from a reputable ( in my opinion) hatchery...
so far the all get along great, they all are growing wonderfully, and they are almost at the age where I feel like they make their own personality.
In the following few years, God willing, I hope to make a few three way crosses of ((3/8)+(3/8))/(1/4) if that makes any sense to any one...
Hopeing to make some sort of sex link if it works right and design a sub hybrid for more eggs and a sub for larger,meaty chickens...
Naturally, all these breeds are cold hard and very similar to each other, but with time I hope to take the best and make them just a little better in the respective areas mentioned.
