Longest heard of wait time to laying?

crazy hen quartet, can you post a pic that shows the whole body, including the flank/tail feathers. Hard to tell from just a head shot.

Is she crowing?

Please please don't let her... erm.. him?? be a roo!

Here is a whole body shot from just now. I estimate age at 30+ weeks - now lets hear what you experts have to say

Wow, that's a real high comb for an Aussie hen but if I had to guess - I'd guess a hen.

Decreasing hours of daylight inhibit laying. We've just turned the corner with the Solstice. Without crowing, I think you should give her some more time.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Well, I had kinda figured I'd just wait until I get and egg or a crow... but now that I have all you experts around I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Any other opinions I would love to hear..

Thanks all! Have a merry day...

Well... I have a couple Buff Orpington's with large combs... I thought they were Roos but then I started getting eggs from them

Wilma looks more like a Wilbert. BUT if he/she is quiet, surely no one in town will complain?

He/She might still surprise you!!!

It's a hen, but she doesn't look ready to lay or might even have some underlying problem. Her comb is very pale.

I would worm her and check for parasites. Also make sure her lungs sound clear.

Looks like a hen, and are you sure she has not laid an egg? You said you had four, one laid green, but if the other three lay brown, are you sure they aren't sharing the nest? The comb is a bit pale to be in lay, but looks like she hit maturity and has popped out a few before days got short.

I have four hens total, the three currently laying lay
1. medium size - green
2. medium - bisque (sometimes with speckles)
3. large - brown

It is very easy to tell who's eggs belong to whom because they are all a distinctive size and color. I wondered if she was secretly laying but I come out at all times of day and have caught all the girls in the nesting box numerous times but never her.

Also, about the "pale"comb, I think it may just be the photo. Here is another from today without the flash, does her comb look ok?

No spurs . . . nah, I think she looks great!

Can you tell us the other breeds?

I'd be a little suspicious of those "bisque (sometimes with speckles)" eggs. Is she low or high on the pecking order? Low ranking hens don't usually linger in the nest.
