How long can eggs last under a chicken before you should take them away. They have sat on these eggs for 26 days, there is no smell and I swear I thought I felt something a day or 2 ago. Don't want them to rot out there but want to give them every chance possible. They have been shuffled around from several nestboxes throughout their incubation period. Of my 8 hens, I had 2 silkies go broody at the same time so set eggs under them, thought what the hell....I have a frizzled bantam cochin rooster as well. Three weeks after the 2 go broody my buff and blue-laced decide they would like to sit as well. That is when the shuffling begins, one gets up to eat/dust/poop and another hops on. Well one comes back and tries to scoop as many as she can get outside the next boxes, going over an inch and half lip. So I'm worried all this movement has ruined any chance of a hatch.
Also the eggs are from my little EE Triscuit, so we have a really hard time seeing through her dark green eggs, thick shells as well. Going to sneak outside and steal an egg in an hour and crack it open to see whats going on but will wait if anyone can say they have had a chicken egg hatch after 26-27 days incubation under a bird.
