This morning I went outside to find my hen (Madame) to have blood on her backside. I took her inside, and upon further inspection, found that her vent was prolapsed by about half an inch (her insides had come out of her vent). I think this happened early this morning.
She was acting normal, but now that my Dad and I cleaned and gently pushed it back in, she’s sleeping and looks quite lethargic. (He’s done this before but with sheep.)
Is she just tired from the pain and stress of pushing it back in or do I need to do something?!
I’m MOVING in literally 2 DAYS and if she has to go to the vet, it needs to be NOW.
Also, I’m water fasting her to try and prevent egg laying or many droppings. Is this the right thing to do?

Do not take away her water. She needs to drink, and I would give her a human calcium citrate with vitamin D tablet orally, or a Tums which can help with her prolapse. A little food should be offered, too. Look to see if it comes out again, and keep that from drying out by using vaseline or other mild oil. Honey or sugar plus a drop of water are also good. It can take days to a week sometimes for a prolapse to go inside.
