This morning we found a baby calf laying out in the field. I pretty well knew which cow had it and figured it was ok, but we put it in the side by side and brought up to the barn lot. We, iodined it’s navel and gave it some colostrum just to make sure it had gotten some. We had lost a calf to buzzards back in the winter, and had to fight them off of a couple more, so we didn’t want to take a chance in them finding this one. This evening the cow came back up to the front field looking for it so we took it back to her, it went straight to nursing. The calves we are having now are out of a home raised bull that is mostly Hereford with a little Brahman influence.
