Hey there, everyone! I've been lurking on these forums for years and thought it was time to finally register.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
No, I've had chickens before but didn't do much research before this group. I've had a small flock of 3 white leghorns that we lost to a bobcat and a flock of 7 we took in after a friend moved away. We lost them to disease, an opossum, and the bobcat. I'm determined to do right by this flock!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
5! 4 hens and an ornery rooster:rolleyes:

(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Barred Rocks (Dora and Nora), 2 Sapphire Gems (Betty and Beatrice), and our rooster (Roo) is unknown

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love watching my kids enjoy the birds! They're old enough this time around to help care for them and my daughter is smitten with them!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I spend my free time running, cycling, crocheting/knitting, watercolor painting, and caring for my 200 houseplants.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a former prekindergarten teacher, currently homeschooling my Kindergartner and preschooler (Thanks, covid19) My husband owns a cargo bike company and we're having a great time watching his business grow :) In addition to our chickens, we also have 2 male coturnix quail (Bert and Ernie), a female Pekin duck (Elsa), 2 Khaki Campbell ducklings (we're not sure of their sex yet), and our 8 year old Lab Mix (Henry).

Hi and welcome to the flock!

I'm glad you decided to join us after being a longtime lurker. You've no doubt learned a lot from your previous flocks, and I sincerely hope your newest chicken flock grows up healthy and happy. Keep us up to date by posting pics and stories in the threads, and stay healthy~
