Hello all, longtime lurker from Alberta who first found your forums when I started raising coturnix quail about five years ago, and chickens not long after that.
Currently I have 4 Australorps and a handful of bantam BYMs who came to me via chicken math--Some unexpected interactions there suggest that the dozen chicks I recently hatched are probably not 100% Australorps, and I'll be asking for some guidance there later. I mostly keep my birds for egg production (and maybe selling surplus hatching eggs, but we'll see) but I honestly have trouble not turning them into pets--they're just so fun to watch when they're out running around.
I'm also a licensed (novice) falconer who will be acquiring my first red-tail this fall, with luck. We're on a hobby farm where my mother-in-law also raises bobwhite quail, Chinese geese, pigeons, rabbits, and a few other critters.
I look forward into getting deeper into this hobby and getting to know people here!
