Welcome to the flock! I was also a long time lurker before joining. So much to learn here and so little time. Enjoy the forums as they are a wealth of information.

Actually, yes we have thought about breeds. We have 5 Barred Rock hens and are awaiting our Barred Rock Rooster. Right now, we also have a White English Angora/Lionhead with Ruby eyes (doe) and a Black & White Vienna Marked Lionhead with Blue eyes (buck). We are going to be getting a pair of French Angoras as our second breeding pair. I would personally love ones with lilac and blue fur. We are looking to add meat chickens (going with Barred Rock again I think) and rabbits (New Zealands, Californias, Champange, Flemish ... have not decided yet) soon as well. Also, just learned about a local project that will help us raise Berkshire pigs. So we are looking into that avenue as well. We believe in caring for our animals whether they are helping us produce food, fiber or providing companionship; and using our land to provide for our family.
