I had new layers a few months ago so got good at this. I didn't intend to as I figured if pullets/hens are with roosters who I see having sex with them all, then their eggs are fertile. Can't just assume that though, but I did for my own incubating, and an infertile one here or there didn't matter.

I was going to be selling eggs toward the end of the summer though, when I quit hatching so couldn't be taking chances in selling a bunch of infertile ones. I started cracking a bunch open every couple of days and used a magnifying glass.

I called ones like yours fertile. From the feedback I got, mine were good. I always send extras though, just in case.
