Look at this crazy egg!!! *pic is kinda gross*

Yesterday, out in the yard, there was this HUGE "egg". It is a egg inside what started to be another egg, then turned into a softshell.

This is from my Delaware trio. Thing is.... I have started to get one egg one day, then three the next (from two hens, mind you), then one, then three, ect....

So, I thought a chicken can only lay one egg per day. what?!?!? And now I get this from those same birds! Do I have a problem or just a crazy hen?

Yeah, the hens are the same age... they will be a year old in July.

Wierd! My Barred Rock is laying 2 eggs every other day. I know it is her because she lays darker/longer eggs than my Buffs.

It would be interesting to see what the hens do with that egg. Wonder if one of your trio will claim it, and decide to go broody & hatch it out.
