Ok so we found this extremely large fully formed egg a week befor Easter. We decided to dye it gold "the chicken that laid the golden egg". We decided to count with our kids how many yolks were inside. We broke it open and found another fully formed egg! I had never heard of such a thing and couldn't fathom how that would happen. Oh and she laid another one today! I'm going to take video before we break it open. Here are some pictures of it.

I had heard of this but never seen one. You might have a chicken some poultry scientist would be interested in.

"Even rarer is an egg within an egg. This occurs
when an egg that is nearly ready to be laid
reverses direction and moves up the oviduct and
encounters another egg in process of being
put together. The results is that the first egg
gets a new layer of albumen added and two
‘eggs’ are encased together within a new
shell. Such eggs are so rare that no one
knows exactly why they happen."
