I don't think so. All 9 of ours had a mix of yellow and white on their bellies and heads. We ordered 8 females and 1 male and that's what we got. The male was identical in appearance to the females when we first got them.

can I ask when you were able to tell your 1 male from the females and what the 'symptom' was?

Middle chick is my Austrolorp cross. Dad is a RIR. Three days old in photo, no spot on head. He's 5 weeks now, and his comb is starting to redden. I think it's a roo.
