Last night was the first night that my 3 chickateers (5 weeks old) slept on the high roost with the big birds, so naturally I was going out to the coop every two hours to peek in on the them and make sure they were all okay. I was afraid that they'd get knocked down off the roost and spend the night on the cold floor.

The last time I checked on them I found that two of the chicks had been jostled around. Instead of being under mama hen, they were now under the wings of a non-broody speckled sussex; one under each wing. While the SS made no move to remove the little interlopers, the look on her face was priceless! HELP! I'm got these THINGS stuck under me......

Though that SS is probably going to be very confused for a few days, I can just imagine her look knowing my two Speckled Sussex girls, I'm sure it was positively priceless!
