I'll give you some inside information.
The easyest way to get him to do it is to attempt it yourself but keep asking for his help/advice. Sooner or later he'll give up tell you to get lost and fix it himself. It'll really kill him if you hold the hammer right up next to the head with both hands and try to drive a nail. (It's like cryptonite)
It's hardwired in all of us. We don't want to do it but if you're going to keep bugging me about it I'll just do it and get it over with.
But be sure to bragg about such a nice job he did after it's all done. He'll think it was all his idea and you won't have to listen to him mumble about how much nagging he had to endure.....
My wife does it all the time but I don't catch it until it's too late.
