Look what I found on my local CL 😍😍

How did it go today?

And more importantly, how much in love is the wife with your brand new GIGANTIC male chicken!?? 😄
We are forecasted to freeze tonight, and I spent the last 2 hours covering her garden for her as a suprise 😉 .

I could bring home a whale tomorrow and we'd be all good.

Now.... would I have covered the garden if I didn't anticipate trouble with the gigante tommorow?? Jury is out, let's hope she doesn't put 2 and 2 together 😂😂😂

He's still a young stag. Expect some more growth out of him. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't pure Indio Gigante though. Not sure how game Indio Gigante are. But be VERY cautious with putting him with other males. Like you already know, these guys need more protein. The stags need more protein. Once they hit one year they need less. Once they grow in their spurs (1.5-2 years) let him decide how much protein he wants
I've got game bird crumbled here for the quail, it is 30%. Then I have some Meat bird left from
When we started them as well that is 24%. The home brew we feed the layers and mixed flock comes in at around 18%. Think the game bird is too much? Meat bird maybe?

Actually, I'd keep them on the home brew and supplement them with meat scraps from your food. IMO it's a much better way, and it helps to form a better bond as well. My usual schedule for stags and pullets is twice a week, around half a meat patty per feeding. To give you a better visual, each bird should eat about a handful of meat each week. For the males that will drop significantly over time. Some people prefer raw, I don't because ew. I usually prefer this method because I don't like playing around with their staple diets
