Look what I found today

I have everything crossed that my babies will start laying soon, they are 20 weeks old. Im looking forward to getting green/blue eggs. I look everyday and none so far. Slys egg bag is hanging so much its literally dragging the ground!! Fat toad that she is.

Grab your camera and get a pic of that. I don't see a difference in my girls. At least I don't think I do LOL

I dont see much of an egg bag on the runners but Sly is my Jumbo Pekin..maybe thats why I can see it...let me go take a photo.

How come you have to take 50 photos to get anything near to what you want. You can see Slys clearly and you can also see a slight bag on the 1 duck on its own.

Uh, wow! Thanks for the egg bag pictures. I've been wondering why everyone talks about it but despite my three years of experience and fairly keen eyes and attention, I've never been able to tell which girls are laying. Now I know--mine NEVER look like that--I have Runners!

Maybe I need to switch breeds... lol

I read somewhere that they get the egg bag just before they start laying, im not poss on this, maybe someone can put me right if I am wrong. All my runners apart from the F&W have a itty bitty bag, but as you can see Slys is huge...but then again shes a huge bird to start with.

Yep - I don't see that.

Maybe I'll run out with my camera between rain showers and see if I can get them to pose for pics so I can see if I can see anything LOL

Mine sometimes seem heavy around the egg area, but it never seems to correlate with laying. One of them developed what I would have thought was an egg bag a couple weeks ago, and I have yet to see an egg in their pen since the cold weather set in.

When they *do* start laying again, I'm going to start separating them into different groups until I figure out who my good layers are... and then sell the rest! lol

I was gonna say!!! Comparing a fresh laid duck egg to a store bought chicken egg is like comparing Patron Anejo to Sierra Tequila.

Edit: Oh look I missed a page so my comment doesn't fit in at all. I look like the smart kid on the bus with her finger in her nose.

I could tell better on my Khakis before I sold them, I had 6 out of 8 laying. The 2 smallers ones didnt have bags hanging so I asumed they were the 2 who werent laying. I dunno,,,
