Look what I got at the Exotic Animal Auction (Pictures Up!)

Domestic Ducks are really loud mostly the females, but mandarins and wood ducks dont make very much noise at all...you can barely hear them, its just a soft cooing and sometimes a peep.

Well you can't tell a split to silver bird by looks, they just look normal. But you can tell a silver bird apart, they are completely silver, like this picture from mallard lane farms...

and yes...thats a real bird..

also, my mandarins dont seem to skittish, but my wood ducks are a lot more afraid. But with any wild duck, they will just be that way. The ring teal just freeze when they see me. I'm sure they will all loosen up when they get to fly in their big aviary.

Your duck are gorgeous.
I have a question. Aren't some of those, like the Wood Ducks, Teals, and Mallards wild breeds? I didn't think it was legal to keep them? At least I thought I heard that?
I was just wondering.

Well, with what I have, I can legally keep mandarins and ringed teals....but thats about it....they dont require any permits or anything. Almost every other teal breed needs a permit. When I purchased my wood ducks, they came with a permit from the previous owner. Now I have a permit to keep them. I will also have to get another permit to sell anything from them (eggs, ducklings, adults, feathers, etc.) Hope that clears up, and in case anyone is wondering, I think I am only going to sell their offspring once i can distinguish male or female. I have heard there is a slim chance of hatching if i ship eggs, and sometimes, wild ducklings are hard to get off to a good start. Does that sound fair?

Also, about the mallards, the hatchery strains have been bred through enough generations that they are now considered domesticated, only if you buy from a hatchery or someone that bought their ducks from a hatchery. If you take mallard ducklings or eggs from the wild, you will need a permit. I think you either get a permit or its illegal
