A friend of mine raises very good d'Anvers chickens. She also helps my son Loren with showmanship stuff. Today she came by to chat and had some of her chickens with her to show Loren. Well, all 3 of these little roos were headed for the pot tomorrow. I only saw 2 of them at first, but got the crate for her and looked in and saw the most beautiful silver quail d'Anvers roo ever! I got him out of the crate and asked if her was going to eat him too. Yep, she was. I held the little bird close and then turned him over on his back. He let me hold him like a baby. I asked her if I could have him. I was in love! She said sure. So now I have a new roo, with no hens yet. I just love him. He needs a name though.
Here he is.
