My 18 weekers are laying their first eggs (on the far left with a sampling of what I gather daily).

I'm so excited!

Hey, what's an "18 Weeker?" Is this a chicken that matures and lays eggs in 18 weeks?! Oh, please tell me more and post a photo of your birds! Do they stand up to winter weather well? Thanks, Ann

I don't know why the pic of the eggs is so big. I did resize it on photobucket before I put it here. Hmmmmm.......

Anyway, here are a few of the pullets who laid those itty bitty eggs. They are 19 weeks now. They're in front of a cinder block for size comparison.

And here's their mom. Still not sure on her breeding, but she's beautiful.

Edited to add:

I discovered a dove on a clutch in the rafters of our barn yesterday. I told my 13 yo ds that I'd explained to the dove that she would be safe here and that we wouldn't hurt her or her eggs. His response was, "My mom the bird whisperer...." I think my family thinks I've lost it!
