Look what I just found 10 feet away from the coop

So it is supposed to rain today so I decided to clean up the yard a little bit. I had a pallet that was sitting on the ground right at the base of the ramp going into my barn (big shed). It's a nice half pallet with plywood covering the top so it wasn't just slats. It was laying upside down and had been there 2 or 3 days. I reached down and picked it up to bring it into the barn so it wouldn't get ruined. My hand was inches away from this and my foot was right by it although I did have boots on. Copperhead. I would say probably around 2.5 to 3 feet long.

Had a black, fake Rattler nearby. Small and annoying. Don't get a Bite from that One.

I shot it with my .22 and finished it off with a machete. Rat snakes and stuff like that I will just move to a less populated area of my property. This one was all cozy right in front of the barn. The barn sits between my coop and my kids playground.

Good thing you got rid of it! I like snakes, but not when they are a danger to my family or my pets!
