WOW looks great, but look out for the raccoons, or whatever predators are in your area. They will get in and destroy pretty easily. Sorry to rain on your parade, I'm just a realist... Have lost MANY of my babies to the coons...

Second stoopid. If that is outside, it needs a secure strap all the way around so the lid can't be removed. Also some care about over-heating. It'll turn into an oven if the sun touches it.

But it looks extremely nice and certainly a reasonable cost. It's got to be much more secure than a small wire pen.

You don't say whether they are inside or outside at night. Either way, it is clever.

They are outside at night. I did think about the raccoon thing. But since while I was making the box I couldn't get the lid off without standing up and using two hands I know a raccoon couldn't. I also have 4 dogs, one of which has caught and/or killed several critters. She is always on high alert! Oddly enough the only interest she has in the birds is to eat their food. As for the heat issue, they will only be in there at night and it will be in the shade.
