Look what showed up!

Look what showed up in the parking lot where I work. Momma and 2 kittens but luckily there are no chickies around. I work in an area right in the middle of a busy shopping mall with a small area of undeveloped just behind our parking lot. They were in the shrubs right by our front door when I went in this morning and momma had a squirrel and growled and hissed at me when I walked by!

When my boss called animal control guess what they told him??? "Well don't anyone try to pet them!" Oh yeah like we're just out there playing with the nice kitties!

They're bobcats in case you can't tell from the pic.

Wow! I live in southwest Alabama and we hear them in the spring, but never see them. That cough/bark they have is enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

We heard them often enough that we invested in two Great Pyrenees to protect our goats.

We had seen them there about a week ago and didn't know if they'd moved on or not but the back area and side of our parking lot is just all grown up and they will probably just hang around there. Animal control didn't act like they would do anything. We also have deer and a fox that will be back there from time to time. There is a ditch just behind the tree that they are sitting under and just beyond that is a big grocery store! It's pretty neat to see so much wildlife right in the middle of such a populated area. AND it's nice that no one has pet chickens around either!

There is probably a good supply of prey for her. Squirrels, rabbits, mice, rats, and if your like Missouri a ton of sparrows and starlings to pick off and depending on what business development you go to plenty of goslings and ducklings and shortly a bunch of adult geese who are molting and can't fly.
