I kinda figured when you said exactly what I pointed out with your hubby and what have yous XD I get gators passing through all the time. Rarely do they stick around though because food is not plentiful in the seasonal pond of my current property. Must admit though glowing eyes out on the water is mildly disturbing.

Awww, why does something that cute have to be such a vicious little pest?

Glad you managed to get rid of him in the end.

PERFECTLY PUT!

First off, are you going to shoot it IN the cage? Or get a crazed coon out of the cage and give it a running start? I personally have shot a raccoon in the line of duty and even with a head shot it's no more "humane" than simply drowing it. I don't mean to offend anyone, but c'mon...you catch a coon, it's your job to get rid of it. Period.

yeah hubby drowned it

he said last year when he tried to shoot it, with them moving, and the wire, he said it was easier to drown it. I DID NOT watch. Oldest son cut the tail off and salted it. I won't let him bring it in the house. Not there yet. Hubby said he would love to try that recipe, as for me, I don't even eat salad, or meat of anykind besides chicken

, ironic that they are my pets

It sounds like you will benefit from some firearms training from an instructor.
It will help you get over your fear and be comfortable and knowledgeable about using them.

The .22 rimfire is small. About an inch long and 1/4 dia. It's a good beginner round because it has almost no recoil(kick).
It's good for small game and varmints at short range.

Please notice that the OP's problem has been solved.

She said her hubby didn't want one, not she herself? Why is it everyone assumes gators are crazed people eaters? They're actually surprisingly placid creatures if you don't mess with their nests. Having gators is like having bears. Don't feed it, don't threaten it's babies, don't attempt to pet it - you're good. They have a real potential to be dangerous but generally aren't(it's breeding season when you really want to avoid them). I used to swim in a lake as a kid all the time that was known for having gators lurking about, not just me but any kid that lived within a mile of the lake swam in it, our friends, family, even pets. Guess how many of us actually got bitten by a gator?

Now crocs... you stay awayyy from crocs... crikey.

Actually, I hear way more on the news about people getting struck by lightning than killed/attacked by gators... anyone got the statistics on that one?
