Look what we found under the duck house today...

Holy smokes, you guys are scaring the %*^&%( out of me. I live in Northwest Washington...we don't have any problems with snakes like that. I think I'd be scared to step outside! We just have the run of the mill raccoons, hawks, owls, coyotes.... Good luck.

What do you have?

No snakes under there this morning... I made the DH get down on his hands and knees and look.

I'm sure they'll be back so I'll just have to keep him looking every morning.

Wow. I didn't even know there was a Predators and Pests forum until you moved my post.

Sorry 'bout that.

I've heard of people drilling a small hole into duck eggs and draining/suckling out the whites/yolks. Then they fill them with salt and leave them where a snake could find it. The snake eats it and then dies. Not sure how humane that is, but from what I hear it gets the job done.

Amazing pic! But cottonmouths are venomous, no such thing as a poisonous snake

venom = injected into the blood stream.
poison = ingested and/or absorbed through linings such as the skin or gut.

Happycheese I don't know what school you went to but venom is poison so a cottonmouth is a poisonous snake

I saw all my girls in a huddle around something and when I went to check it was a snake. In the run! Not any where's that big. Just a little thing by comparision. I went to get the rake to move it but it took off. I had one once rear it's ugly head at me and I took the rake and threw it into the road. Not sure it made it to the other side but I didn't care. Try to bite me and you die!

If I saw a snake that big I'd be screamming and running.
