I wont lie it really was. Man did I wanna keep him, but couldnt remeber if the males helped feed the babies. That and its better off being wild. Before he took off he looked at me and chirpped then took off.
You are lucky--if hummingbirds get too stressed out, they have a heart attack on the spot because their heart is beating so fast already. Crazy creatures.

We used to have a humming bird that would nest in my parent's front porch light fixture. She would come every year and lay 2 or 3 little teeny eggs - we had to warn everyone to come to the garage because if we forgot and opened the door at night she would fly all over confused like a drunk little hummer
We would take a broom with a mirror taped to the top of the handle so we could look at them when she was out looking for food.
My parents must be wild bird magnets, because now they have a little finch type bird that comes and makes a nest on the wreath they hang on their door - she's been raising 2 or 3 sets of chicks there every year for the last 4 years - LOL! My mom takes it down and cleans it in the winter and puts it back up in the spring - silly bird! This year she laid 5 eggs!!! Crazy bird. The last time she laid 4 eggs they all died because they got too big for the nest and all knocked each other out. So hoping only 3 hatch!
