Hey,
My name is Wendy and as the title states, I've been searching and reading this site for a long time, but my broody hen inspired me to join. I live in north west North Carolina 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, the most awesome place on earth (and this comes from a city girl)! We have 8 hens: 2 Tetra Tints; Fig Horn Leghorn and Fern Horn Leghorn (we thought they were Leghorns when we got them), 2 Red Sex-linked; Big Red and Penny, 2 Buff Orpingtons; Bertha and Merilyn, 2 Barred Rocks; 3-D and Head and 1 roo, Jack, that I say is a Silver Leghorn but nobody else agrees with me (he was a mystery chick from Murray McMurray). We've only had our flock for 9 months but we've had great success, 6-8 eggs a day plus 8 baby chicks as of yesterday! We love having fresh eggs and the non-stop entertainment! Can't wait to get involved with some of the forums and spread the knowledge! Thanks BYC!
