Hi all! New here and have a lot of anxiety in general, but decided after a few years of being on the fence to get 4 chickens for the eggs and company. We went to the local TSC and encountered some sign confusion. We got 4 Easter Egger “pullets”, and the sign definitely said “PULLETS” and NOT straight run but one of the bullet points on the sign said they were unsexed. This particular day there was a line and all week they’d been selling out as soon as they got them so we decided to chance it as it did say… pullets… after all. There are 2 that I don’t have a question about being hens but there is 1 I’m scratching my head about and it’s making me very nervous. We are at about 4/5 weeks and “she’s” got a bigger comb than the others and it’s pink. There’s one other that has a bigger comb but it’s not AS big and it’s not pink at all, that I’m also starting to question. The one in question is always perched on the door in the brooder waiting for me to come by and refresh the food and water, and since a few days old was the one always hopping through the bars (brooder is a dog crate) and running around my office. “Shes” friendly and always let us hold her while the others are more skittish. I really can’t have a rooster in my subdivision though there aren’t any rules I have found within my township that prohibit roosters exclusively, just cited noise ordinances.. I also am afraid what rehoming a rooster means for the rooster :( before I get too ahead of myself, here’s some photos- what do you all think? Pic with the ducks is the other 3. If you zoom, you can kind of see what I’m talking about regarding the comb on the other one I’m a little concerned about…

That's a cockerel all right.

Aw man! I was thinking this obviously but sad if it’s true, and was hoping (still hoping!) it’s a female with a big comb lol. What does one do in this case? We also have ducks that will be sharing the run so if he ends up growing up and not bothering the neighbors, I also have them to think about (is he going to harm them or go after them even though they grew up together, etc?). Lesson learned I guess to always scrutinize the bins and signs at TSC!

What do we think about this one?
Her comb is getting a little bigger too than the other 2 but not as big as “Rose’s” up there, and isn’t pink…. Same type of chicken same age- green Easter Egger, ~5 weeks
