Looking at HovaBators on eBay

Georgiapea,

Since you are already looking on Ebay for an incubator, I would suggest that you take a look at THIS Auction on a "Little Giant" Incubator....they are very "similar" to the Hovabator (except the Lil Giant has a 40 watt heating element as opposed to the Hovabator's 25 watt...and the Lil Giant has an "electronic" thermostat compared to Hovabator's "wafer-type".)

This person that is offering this at auction is ALSO offering another incubator WITH a Circulating Fan...AND on another Auction (at the same time) is offering an "egg-turner" that fits either Lil Giant.

Here is the "link" to the Still-Air Incubator auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290370558060&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I suggest that you also look at the "Other items for sale" by this individual. That action will allow you to see the auction of the incubator with fan.......and also the auction of the "egg-turner".

No telling, of course, what the ultimate price will be....but NOW.....all of these items are VERY REASONABLE, I believe.

GOOD LUCK !!!

P.S. I haven't ANYTHING to do with these auctions AND do not know the person selling. I just happened to see this shortly before I read your posting. (I personally have 2 Little Giant incubators....one with fan for incubating and turning....and one with fan for "hatching".)

Georgiapea,

I have used both the Little Giant and Hova-Bator. Both have their pros and cons, personally I preferred using the Hovabator above the Little Giant.

There are however various Hovabators available, and it is sometimes hard to choose the right one. It all of coarse depends on your needs.

If you are looking for the best Hovabator egg incubator, I suggest you buy the GQF Model 1588 with Auto Turner 1610 (If you are planning on incubating chicken eggs). This incubator and turner combination should cost around $125.00 + shipping new, on e-bay it can vary. It has a highly accurate electronic thermostat and fan, which will ensure better hatch rates.

If you are looking for something more budget, you can buy the GQF Model 1583 egg incubator with auto egg turner 1610. This should cost around $100.00 + shipping new. Once again, prices may vary on e-bay.

A word of warning when buying second hand egg incubators. Unless they are very well sterilized, you WILL encounter problems with your hatch rates due to possible bacteria infections that may be existent. When you buy them new, you are at least assured that the incubator is sterile and you will be the first person to use it. It only takes one bacteria particle to ruin an entire batch of eggs and many hours of hard work.

Good luck!

Thank you both for your responses.

I looked at the 3 Little Giant auctions and will keep an eye on how they go. I think they end on Sat. sometime. I do want a turner too. I probably overlooked them because I was concentrating on the easily recognized visual of the HovaBators.

As for the HovaBators I know I overlooked that they come in various models, so thank you for giving me the scoop on that. I'll go back and look again, fully armed with information.
