Looking Down For Hatching Anyone Want to join in 6/11/12

I'll join! I have 4 silkie eggs that are on Day 21...or Day 20 because I put them in the bator late in the evening

I had 6 and took 2 of the eggs out today that never developed. I went to grab another egg and I heard chirping!!!!! I put it back immediately and am not opening the bator anymore! Do you think he will be okay? :( This is my first hatch! No pipping from any of the eggs, yet.

Yes it will be just fine do not worry! When it starts to hatch pull out 1 vent plug and when it is out you can open the other vent plug if you want that is how I have been doing it.

Welcome JennaRN

It should be fine. It'll just be a bit more well travelled than it's siblings by the time it's done hatching

Thanks for the advice! My bator doesn't have removable vents, there are two tiny vents that have screen on them but they don't close or open. I'm so nervous! It's peeping like crazy in there but still no pipping. I'm worried I hurt it or something. Eeek!

^_^ I love it when they start hatching. I remember my first time I was beside myself with worry about them. Peeping is a good sign, it means he's getting plenty of oxygen. Plus he'll stimulate the other eggs to get a move on hatching themselves.

He's zipping right now! I'm so excited! This is one of the eggs I wasn't sure was developing. Hooray! Pics to come!

Congrats everyone on your hatch!!!!!

My bantam hatched them at 2am. So I only had 3 eggs that didn't hatch of the Delaware X New Hamps Reds. That is wonderful to me and great Hatch for me! My one BR chick I think it's foot is broke or bad sprain on it's right foot. I hope it will be ok he hobbles right now and had to move some chicks away that were mean to it trying to eat it's foot like it is a worm. He's really strong I think but small. I named him Lucky. I couldn't post last night my computer broke on lol. Then had my son's birthday party at the dells at the water park all day. Long hot day! Now I have to get ready for another lock down on Sunday for my Polish Tolbunt's and my 4 Bantam egg due on the Wed.
