I need a chicken bible...

I am looking for suggestions on books for chickens (kinda like the dogs in Canada magazine)

the book needs to be:

1) easy to read and understand not to many scientific terms

2) LOTS of pictures (I am a visual learner and also for the kids)

3) average to large text

I am looking mainly for breeds, not so much on care and coop sutff

thanks

What are your goals? Look at pretty photos? Become well versed in the standards for (and differences between) different breeds? Learn history of breeds?

I am looking to expand my flock with my DD's involvement

I need to know what breeds do well with cold climates

and yes to look at the pictures so she can see what kind of birds she would like to have

I have two books right now that I think would be good: Storey's Illustrated Guide To Poultry Breeds, and HOBBY FARMS CHICKENS Tending a Small-Scale Flock for Pleasure and Profit. The later is a good information source for tips and help for problems in your flock and it has good resources in the back of the book and the first one has different breeds, a description on the breed, a pic or 2 of thet breed, and facts on the breed.
hope that helps:D
