Looking for a Duck Pond Photo/Thread

My husband dug this pond out and then we filled it with water. There is no liner in it.

We are planning on putting in a filter and a liner in it for a couple of reasons you may want to take into consideration: One, the water gets yucky. My ducks are dirty when they get out of it sometimes. Not all the time, but sometimes. Their white feathers on their chest are not so white sometimes. I really don't like this....at all! The other thing that was really disappointing was the deepest part was four feet. WAS four feet. We drained it during the summer to refill it, and the bottom is a BUNCH of soft muck, and it is no where near 4 feet now. We can walk across it and the water comes to just about mid thigh on me at the deepest point (I am 5'9"). I was really disappointed because hubby dug it out by hand with a shovel and wheelbarrow, so it was a lot of work and doesn't really show it anymore. Plus, the ducks can't dive like they used to. They can still completely submerge and come up in another place, just not as deep for them.

ETA: Our soil in our neighborhood is VERY clay-ey......crappy, really, but it DOES hold water!!!

wow he dug that by hand? Very nice! That makes me want to buckle down and finish the pond I started (10+ years ago)...but it's getting cold now, so maybe this spring....

haha thanks for the motivation! The hole is pretty much dug, I just need a 30' x 40'ish piece of epdm rubber liner...
