Does anyone participate in a dog forum, like BYC, where the people are friendly and welcomin?

I Have tried a couple lately but alI i am getting is snobbery and rudeness

any suggestions are welcome

thanks

I too would like to find a good dog forum. I also wish BYC had an app.

what i dont understand is why they are ALL so snobby and elitist. i just want to talk about my dogs and show off pics. but if you dont have the "right" dog with all these tests and letters after their name somehow youre trash.

i know of a lady who has bred her dogs 3 times in less than a year and another who is expecting 5 litters this year. but thats ok because they dogs are all akc? what?

or the woman who bred her dog because its got a great personality but she had like 6 tests run so somehow she isnt a back yard breeder. huh?

i just dont get the hypocrisy. the people running these dog sites are worse than HRS people.

:(

what breed? or what are you interested in?

breeders like you describe aren't welcome on most of the forums that I am on. Tolerated maybe, if they are at least making a minimal effort.

As long as you aren't breeding, the forums I am on welcome sharing photos and bragging on your dogs. It doesn't matter if they are tested or titled.

and that is the exact attitude i'm talking about. i guess i'm as likely to find a dog forum with decent friendly people as i am a unicorn being ridden by a leprechaun.

which attitude? passion about the breed? wanting to stop the tide of dogs being produced willy-nilly that ends up euthanized in shelters every day?

Other than that, it really varies. You'll find some forums that will rip you to pieces because you rescue. Others who will bash you for going to a breeder.

But people who care about dogs expect a breeder to be working hard to produce happy healthy stable dogs. Sadly, it's not the case with the majority of dogs born in the world. Most are the result of "OMG how cute would puppies be??" and that is as far as the thought process goes.

I know some very nice GSD forums. And some great forums for obedience work. And I know forums that I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy

it's much like the reaction someone would get on BYC if they came on saying "my chickens keep getting killed. I bought 3 day old chicks and put them outside. I don't want to build a coop or put up a fence; they should be free to just be animals. How long will it take before they are big enough that things won't eat them?" The responses would be less than friendly. Now multiply that by 10+ people a day coming in with the same idea. That is why a lot of dog forums have attitude.

I don't think it's rude to ask if you are interested in a particular type or breed of dog. It will help to get you directed to the right forum. Almost everyone has some preference, maybe not pure bred but at least breed type; retriever, hunting dog, small dog big dog ect.

And just because: bird dogs in flight!

I was on a dog forum once and it turned out to be disastrous! Very nasty, crazy people. Your best chance of talking about dogs and enjoying sharing pictures of them would probably be on this site.
